Huskies Lose to Georgian Court
LAKEWOOD, NJ--Despite a game-high 18 points from Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven), the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team lost to Georgian Court on Tuesday by a score of 51-47.
The Huskies trailed 41-34 with just under nine minutes to when they went on a 11-3 run keyed by Kegerreis and Chantal Hardy. It was a bucket by Kegerreis with 3:50 to play that put Bloomsburg in front 47-44. Those, however, were the last points scored by the Huskies.
Georgian Court then got a jumper from Patty Foley and a three-pointer by Dee Varley to grab a 49-47 lead with 2:52 to remain.
Bloomsburg had four possessions to tie or go in front, but misfired on each opportunity. The Lions,also, failed to capitalize and did not increase its lead.
The Huskies got the ball back with 27 seconds left and worked the ball around to Chantal Hardy who missed on a jumper with Kegerreis picking up a foul going for the rebound. Georgian Court hit then hit two free throws with 10 seconds left to seal the win.
Along with Kegerreis' 18 points, Shameika Christian and Lauren Healy each scored eight points. Foley led Georgian Court with 13 points, while Varley scored 11.
Bloomsburg, 1-2, will host Briarcliffe College on Saturday at noon.
